final project
This piece was also done in prismacolor pencil, during a car ride to Florida. It depicts an image of Jordan Lake, on a bright, sunny, spring day. In the reference photo, there is a crystal clear reflection of the trees in the water. It almost seems unreal, how sharp and identical the reflected trees are to the real trees. I began creating this piece by sketching out the trees and the horizon line. I then began coloring in the trees with dark greys, browns, and blacks. The trees have somewhat of a silhouette appearance, so it was difficult to add lots of values into the trees. After coloring in the trees, I began to add the blues and whites for the sky and the clouds. It was difficult to make the sky a soft light blue color, while making the light clouds stand out. I used several values of blues and a white pencil to create values within the sky and depth within the clouds. As I began to fill in the water, I made sure to replicate the pattern of the clouds in the sky so that they mirrored each other in the final product.
