Final Project
I decided to do watercolor for my fourth concentration piece. This is my first time ever doing water color for an entire piece, so it will be a challenge. The first thing I did was practice a little bit of techniques with a scrap piece of paper. I have realized how important it is to start light and to build up the values with the paint in order to add depth and values.
After about a week of working on this project I feel like I have accomplished very little. The plant in the bottom left corner of the painting took several rounds of trial and error, and still aren’t completely done. I have learned a lot about watercolor however. I have realized how important it is to start light and build up the colors, and I feel that I have gotten better at the techhiques. Hopefully the rest of the project will go by super fast.
After completing this project, I really feel like this piece has helped me improve my art skills. By practicing both patience and techniques, I feel like I was able to create a pretty good piece of artwork. I am proud of myself for continuing to add values and depth even when I was frustrated, because I feel that those were crucial details to make this piece work.
