Final Project
Shown above is my second concentration piece. This is an acrylic paintintg of a photo which I took in Florida. This painting represents my concentration because it depicts an image of mother nature, but it has a single component which stands out above all of the others. The red vine hanging down from the boardwalk railing symbolizes one of the simple beauties in mother nature.
While creating this piece, the first thing that I did was I painted the sky with a light blue. I then added the water and the sand, and began to sketch the boardwalk. Sketching the boardwalk was very challenging because of the perspective of the photo. I then began to paint the wood. While painting the wood, I had to include several different shades of whites, greys, and blacks to make it look realistic. The wood took several hours because of the various colors I had to include.
This project definitely taught me a lot about perspective. It took me several attempts to sketch out the boardwalk because my perspective was not correct the first few attempts. I also learned a lot about the importance of values in plants and the overall depth of the painting.
Overall, I am happy with how this painting turned out. It was a very challenging project, but I feel that I was able to capture the image well.
