Final project
This prismacolor piece was also created while in the car on the way to Florida. It was a simple piece based off a picture of a bird flying at beach sunset. It looks very simplistic, but it took a while to create because of the values and blending needed to make the piece come to life. I began creating this piece by drawing the grass. I did sharp dark strokes of the prismacolor pencils to depict flowing grass caught in a breeze. Going in with deeper values gave the grass an appearance of having depth, rather than just sitting in the foreground of the image. Then, I colored in the bird with dark values which give the bird the appearance of being a silhouette. In the back wing, I added in some orange and yellow values to reflect the sunset. Lastly, I began to color in the sunset, beginning at the top with light blue. I began to fade the blue down lighter and lighter, until I began to fade it into a light orange color. I spent a lot of time blending the colors together to make the sunset subtle and natural looking. Overall, I am happy with how this piece turned out. Although it is much more simple and less impressive that some of my others, it was cool to depict such a peaceful and natural image.
